We imported Joule in late 1998, again as a proven bull whose progeny impressed us greatly. As a young bull he was sold through the famous Lanaud Sales in France for a record FF169, 000 to Brazil, a record that he still holds. Unfortunately (fortunately for us!) a change in export restrictions meant that he stayed in France until he was resold to us.
His progeny show great promise with style and shape. Unfortunately we lost Joule a little while ago due to an accident, just as he was to really to get to work on the Jockey daughters - the job he was bought for. However, he continues to be used through A.I., but you can't put 20 straws out on the field and tell them to get on with it!

Jack was bought at Carlisle in the May 1995 Show and Sale for the top price of 8,900 gns when he was judged Supreme Champion out of an entry of 350 bulls. He was selected for his growth, shape and character together with strong maternal background. After his purchase he was shown extensively and had the distinction of winning his class at all the Royal shows and was also Res. Male Champion at Limousin 2,000 judged by Jean Luc Kress.
Unfortunately, we lost Jack in an accident after only two seasons work, but his influence on the herd will be far reaching through his exceptional daughters, which are by far the milkiest beef females we have come across.

Hallmark was purchased privately in 1993 from the well-known Goldies Herd as our pick of the Epatant sons. He was a stylish, showy bull who quickly went on to win the Male Championship at the Royal Welsh Show (one of the youngest ever to do so).
As with Normande Jack, we lost Hallmark in late 1994, and therefore had little more than a crop of calves by him. His great legacy to the herd will again be the crop of females that have become great cows that have already bred some top bulls.

Denver must be considered the "grand-father" of the herd and must be credited with raising the profile of the herd within the British Herd book. He was bred by Dick and Joyce Jobling in Yorkshire and must arguably be the great Rake Terence's best breeding son.
He had an illustrious show career culminating in the Supreme Championship Limousin and Interbreed "Fitzhugh" Championship at the Royal Welsh Show in 1992. Also at this show his first son, Dyfri Grand Prix won the Interbreed Champion Beefbreeder Young Bull, and was subsequently sold to the Scottish Milk Marketing Board for their AI stud. He became one of the most successful AI sires ever in the UK.
Again, as with Hallmark and Jack, Denver's influence is still great on the herd, with his daughters now forming the bulk of the older part of the Cow Herd. His daughters have bred bulls sold to 11,000 gns and 8,000 gns.

Ramadan was our original Limousin purchase and had won the Limoges show as a 6 month calf in 1980 at the same show as his dam won her class for calved heifers. Much of his work for us was in the early years and mainly on our commercial suckler herd. However, the few females that he left in the pedigree herd have had quite an impact, and are still breeding strong.
